I have four-day weekends…every weekend. Be jealous. And this Friday, I didn’t have any plans. The other person from Seattle, Hans, had an interview in Amsterdam and so we decided to hit up Amsterdam. I spent about nine hours on my feet wandering.
This was an exploration day. We saw a lot of monuments and since Amsterdam is only 20 euros and an hour train ride away, I know I’ll be visiting more and soon. While Hans was at his interview, I borrowed his guide book and walked canal ring after ring, house by house since his book provides little history lessons on the homes.
I’ll be sure to inform you of more soon!
PS. The way I was pronouncing Rotterdam was correct! Ha!

Who's the tourist? I am! I am!

The famous flower market

Another canal in Amsterdam.
Please note the row of bikes, the boat scrapping by in under the canal and the church in the back.

Homes used to be taxed on facade only, thus the collections of very narrow homes. This is just an extreme example--and it's not even the narrowest home in Amsterdam! Yes, it's JUST that door, that's the entire house...

A mall.

Hope you're having fun in Amsterdam.
Wow those are some pretty pictures. And WOW those are huge clogs! That's really cool that you got to roam around.
